[AWE Exclusive Interview] "Spatial Computing is Humanity’s New Superpower" — Meeting Ori Inbar, Founder of AWE

Daily News Editor-in-Chief  & USAKO Group Chairman Holds Exclusive Dialogue with Global XR Titan at 'AWE 2026 Long Beach'

[LONG BEACH, CA, USA] — At the heart of the global Extended Reality (XR) industry in Long Beach, California, a special meeting took place during AWE 2026 (Augmented World Expo).

Dr. Han Ko, Chairman of USAKO Group and Editor-in-Chief of Daily News, conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Ori Inbar—founder of the conference and a living legend in the XR sector—to explore the past, present, and future of the global XR landscape.

Who is Mr. Ori Inbar? A First-Mover Pioneer in the Global XR Industry

Ori Inbar is a pioneer who has spearheaded spatial computing for over two decades by fusing technology and media. He studied Computer Science and Film at Tel Aviv University in Israel.

As an early core member, Inbar helped build TopTier Software, which was acquired by SAP in 2001 for $400 million. He subsequently served as Senior Vice President (SVP) at SAP, managing a $1 billion business unit.

He later plunged directly into the XR industry by co-founding the AR platform company Ogmento (the predecessor to Flyby Media, which was later acquired by Apple). To popularize the global metaverse ecosystem, he established AWE—now the world’s largest XR conference—and the non-profit organization AugmentedReality.org.

Currently, as a Founding Partner at Super Ventures (a venture capital firm specializing in XR), Inbar actively acts as the industry's premier connector. He has successfully led M&As for promising startups such as Cimagine and Infinity AR, which were acquired by major tech giants including Snap and Alibaba.

[INTERVIEW] AWE Founder Ori Inbar x USAKO Group Chairman

Daily News / USAKO: Congratulations on the successful opening of AWE 2026. The atmosphere here in Long Beach is hotter than ever. To kick things off, could you share AWE's vision for professionals in the AR/VR/XR space and the readers of Daily News?

Ori Inbar: Thank you for the warm welcome. AWE started with one clear purpose from day one: to democratize technologies that augment human capabilities. What began as a small gathering of specialists has grown into a global platform where tech giants and startups assemble under one roof. Every year at this event, we confirm that the future we once dreamed of is rapidly becoming our reality.

Daily News / USAKO: How has your unique background—spanning your roots in Israel, your tenure in Big Tech, and your work as a VC—influenced the growth and trajectory of AWE?

Inbar: Israeli tech culture is built on the spirit of Chutzpah—taking bold risks without the fear of failure. Throughout my journey—from my corporate business experience at SAP to founding Ogmento and investing through Super Ventures—the core conviction has always been "benefiting humanity through technology." AWE is the direct result of striving to connect fragmented global pioneers into one massive, cohesive ecosystem.

"We Are Witnessing Humanity's Most Powerful Superpower"

During recent keynote speeches and public appearances, Ori Inbar captured the industry’s attention by sharing deep insights into the future of XR. Throughout our interview, he re-emphasized his firm philosophy:

"Spatial Computing is not just a technological trend. It represents the largest paradigm shift in human history since the PC and the smartphone. We are living in an era where technology grants humans 'superpowers.' XR will broaden our horizon, remove spatial constraints, and maximize human potential."
